Bits 'n' Pieces

Monday, October 29, 2007

Oh Pups...what a weekend! So much fun at the pawty. I hope you made it over to Asta's bloggy today to see the pictures she took!!! Silly me, forgot my camera...I better not do that for the Ike & Martha's wedding...my Mom will just kill me if I don't get pictures!

So by now I think you've heard about Scruffy & Koobie's escapades!!! My Mom was SO not pleased with how Aire Ruby looked on its return. I was worried I was going to get grounded, but she saw everything!!! Did you know those fun little pink glow lights all around the plane...well, there are little cameras in there! Yes, that's right 'Big Mother is watching us'!!! We need to be careful next time!!! Fortunately, I think Mom is still kinda guilty from my prison stint last week that she happily cleaned up Aire Ruby and just said that I have to get her permission if I want to let somepup borrow the plane. What a drag...oh well...guess that is better than being grounded, huh?

I have to apologize for being absent on everypups & hammies bloggies the last week or so...I've been sooooo busy lately. Hopefully things will calm down over the next few days and I promise to visit everypup...ok? Still love me?

Not only was I neglecting my poor bloggy, but I also neglected to post this:
My dear pupfriends Clover and Marvin gave me this!!! Now I want to pass it on to my BFF Suki, my Howl-o-weenie Barkday Diva pal Lola (and the rest of the Jackman Ave clan) and to my Stanny and his new sissy Princess Stella! Pass on the sweets, my sweets!!!

Few more items...Blue is having her Howl-o-weenie graveyard pawty...go help her pick a location and let me know if you need a lift. Oh and there is still room for Ike & Martha's Wedding in France...we probably should just go from Blue's Pawty to the wedding so make sure you pack appropriately!

I have so much to do yet...I need to write little Stella a welcome rhyme, I want to play the name game, I need to send in an entry picture for the DWB 2008 calendar, I need to get going on my Holiday card picture, and I need to decide what to wear for the big wedding. And most important, I need to get Aire Ruby all set for this weeks events. Oh and let me know what you think...it's my BFF Suki's barkday coming up...what do you pups & hammies think about a trip to FL and going to Disney World to celebrate???

Are you pups ready???

Friday, October 26, 2007

OMD...I'm so sorry I've been out of touch, but as you know Mom sent me off to prison this week (aka the Wag), but Aire Ruby is ready to go to the Howl-o-Ween Barkday Pawty. We're stocking it with yummy snackies and lots of great toys for our trip to Salem. If you don't see your name on the reservation list, have no fear, I'll still be there to pick you up...I just haven't had a chance to update the reservation system (no access in prison). Here I am in my costume getting ready to go...Look, up in the sky, it's a bird, it's a bat, it's AireRuby!!!!

So let me fill you in on what was up with me since my Nanny's visit. OK, so Mom had to go to Portland for some work stuff (sorry Bella...she really should have come to visit you!!!). But before we talk about Portland, let me tell you about the horrible, painful things I had to endure.

So my Nanny left to go back to New Jersey (land of the Newfs) at some undogly hour in the morning...which meant Mom had to get up even earlier. I figured I'd just get to sleep in but NOOOOOO I had to get up and go. The good thing was I got to bark 'bye' to my Nanny, bad news is I was than whisked off to prison/Wag.

Now normally there are lots of things going on when I go to the Wag...people to pet me, butts to sniff, but not at 5:00 AM!!!!! No no no, there was just one girl (who was very nice) BUT my Mom just up and left me!!! I just cried and cried. How could she do that too me? I didn't want to eat, didn't want to play...I just wanted my Mom. I guess after a while I realized she wasn't coming back and just resigned myself. As you can see, I did get an EXCELLENT report card and even made a new friend...

See...I'm 'such a good girl!'. I'm 'So much fun!'. Woo Hoo! I think I like those Wag girls!!! Anyhowl...I did have fun, but not after first being traumatized by Mom abandoning me!!! But unfortunately a little 'secret' got out about me to my Mom. For some strange reason, my Mom asked the Wag girl (I can't remember her name) if I slept on a bed or not (since we all know about my 'bed')...well, they told her that the very first time I visited, I ate my bed - NO, not the whole thing...just some stuffy-stuff. So now I just get blankies...just like home. Fortunately I think my Mom was still guilty about abandoning me and just laughed about it.

OK, now about Portland...I didn't get all the details about Mom's trip, but she really liked it there. She got to visit my Auntie Deb for a little bit, met a bassett/blue heeler named Elvis and a little Toffee-like doggin who didn't like to walk on a leash and just got dragged. But most of her time was spent working...here's the picture of the parking lot of the building she was visiting...don't the leaves look cool????
Oh and she went to this restaurant (which she said was really yummy) which had a very interesting drink on the menu...do you know which one I'm talking about???
We got home really late last night and just went right to bed...Mom was really tired and so was I and I needed my sleep to get ready for the big weekend. So that's it...I'm back and ready to catch up on everypuppies bloggies!!! I missed you guys...oh, and I guess I'll see you soon, right? Look up in the sky...it might be me!!!

I'm back...for now...

Monday, October 22, 2007

I'm back!!! Did you pups and hammies miss me? Whoa, I've missed you! It's been a super busy, busy, busy hanging with my Nanny, Nanny, Nanny! We've had sooooo much fun.

We've played...
And I roached...
Wally, how's the technique???

And I got TONS of excellent belly rubs...
Mom, can you grow some of those long red things on your fingers just like Nanny? They felt real good.

I got some really nice toys from my Nanny, Auntie Joey, Cousin Danny and Sophia, my sister...
Oh, Sophia...I sent you something, make sure you ask Nanny for it.

Look, I'm even wearing a tee-shirt!
I'm SO NOT a Drama Queen...am I???

I did some stuffy destroying...
Lola & Luckie...how am I doing?

BeforeAfter

And finally we napped...

I had so much fun visiting with my Nanny!!! Thanks for coming to see me!!! I woof you.

Oh and I'm off to the Wag till Friday...I KNOW...can you believe it? Mom needs to go somewhere for work...but I'll be back on Friday. Don't forget about the Halloween Barkday Pawty and of course Ike & Martha's Wedding...there is still room on Aire Ruby!

Whole Buncha Stuff...

Hey Pups & Hammies...

You are SO not going to believe what happened yesterday...my silly Mom forgot to lock me in my kitchen prison when she came home for lunch and guess what????? I was a perfect little angel!!!!! Unlike some other Boston who was opening packages of earplugs and eating Triscuits, I spent a wonderful afternoon napping on my couch and in my bed. It was wonderful. Mom was totally shocked when she got home and you should have seen her running around the house to see what kind of trouble I got into...but nothing...absolutely nothing.

She was so happy I didn't make a mess that I got lots of kisses and some treats after dinner and a Greenie (can you believe it, I've never had a Greenie?). She was so proud of me, she even told one of the neighbors about it on our walkie last night...the lady could have cared less, but you know, I'm just happy that Mom is happy. Unfortunately I am back in my kitchen prison again today...but I can be patient...Mom is getting old and I'm sure she'll forget again soon.

Now on to other things...I wanted to officially announce Aire Ruby is now taking reservations for Ike & Martha's Wedding. We are headed off to Martha, Saint-Pierre-d'Oléron in France. Ike wanted me to let everyone know they are invited! Oh the things I am planning on Aire Ruby...champagne fountains, duck liver pate on quackers (get it, quackers), caviar doggie biscuits...you name it, we'll have it. This will be one luxury flight you won't soon forget. I already have a few pups reservations based on reading comments on Ike & Martha's blogs, and of course I accounted for the very handsome groomsmen too. So make sure to leave a comment if you want to come along.

Also, don't forget there is still room for the Halloween Barkday Bash. That is going to be sooooo much fun too!

Finally, tomorrow my Nanny comes to visit!!! Yay!!! I'm very excited to meet her...we are going to have so much fun together I can't wait. This may mean I won't be posting that much or be able to comment a lot...I hope you will all forgive me. I want to make sure I get maximum play and snuggle time with her.

Oh and last but not least thanks for all your comments yesterday on my krusty problem. So far, still krusty, but I'm being a good girl and taking my memin (that's what Suki & Joey's people pup sister Ava calls medicine-hee hee hee)! I'm sure it will be gone real soon!!!

Paging Dr. Hibbert....

This is Krusty...
and so is this...

Sorry for the blurry photo, but you get the point. For the last week, Mom has noticed this krustiness at the corner of my mouth. At first she thought I was getting lazy and not washing my face after I ate (silly woman) so she washed my face...but it didn't go away. Than she noticed one day it was krusty and the next pimply.

Mom finally had enough and as usual made me go to the vet. I feel fine, but she's such a worry wart. So off to the vet I go and guess what??? They really don't know what it is!!! They think it might be an infection so I am now on antibiotics for 2 weeks...YES, 2 WEEKS!!!!! If it doesn't clear up by then they are going to do a bio-popsy which doesn't sound good at all...so cross your paws I don't have to do that!!! And here I wanted to be all pretty for my Nanny's visit...hopefully Nanny will still think I'm cute.

Oh and Mom, is this your idea of a joke?
SO not funny!!!

Bloggers Unite for the Environment

Monday, October 15, 2007

My friend Chance told me that today is Bloggers Unite for the Environment day and that we should do a post about the environment. Of course I always listen when someone tells me to do something (Ruby's Mom: Oh, you do, do you?) so I'm going to talk about how I try and be nice to the environment.

First off, I like to make friends with the environment...I love to chase birdies and butterflies and bugs (yes, I play with bugs). Without birds and bugs and spiders and all other creatures, there wouldn't be balance in the environment. So we all need to be nice to our friends and make sure that we keep their homes safe.

Next up, something my Mom has been trying to do for the last few months for both me and her is to eat local. Oh and only eat things that haven't been treated with nasty pesky-sides. Every Saturday morning (before we head to the doggie park) my Mom goes to the local Farmer's Market and buys all the fruitables and vegetables for the week. All the eatables are grown locally in our area so not only are we eating better and healthier, but also supporting the local economy. Unfortunately I don't get to go to the Farmer's Market with her because they don't allow dogs, why I don't know because I know I'd be a good helper to my Mom. Doggie discrimination...hmphhhhhh!

Finally, we recycle too!!! That is very very important! We make sure to separate our trash, which I love to help my Mom do because I can usually steal some fun garbage and than she has to chase me around hee, hee, hee!!! Mom has also bought these cool bagables from our favorite stores so that we don't have to keep getting new paper or plastic bagables which is very wasteful. In fact my Mom has been so good about this that she won't go shopping unless she has her reusable bagables!!! Good Mom!!! (Ruby's Mom: Why thank you Ruby!!!)

So those are some of the things we do to help the environment. I know we need to do more so we are open to anypups suggestions that can help me and my Mom take better care of the earth so that it is here for a very long time!

Drumroll please...

Introducing...Wonder Ruby the Yarn Dog...

Yep, that's right. Has she no mercy? She can be vengeful, can't she...all because of that one little yarn 'mishap'. It wasn't expensive yarn, I was just helping and she actually just left the yarn there anyway! Anyhowl, this is what she made me...I'm a skein of yarn. It reallydoes frighten me what goes through that mind of hers. Here are a few more photos...

For those knitters out there like Dory and Maggie's Moms, my Mom said you'll appreciate the detail on the label? Yes, hand-wash, no bleach, lie flat to dry and no ironing. My Mom still giggles about this, I don't get it. Here's my favorite photo...

Think I look a little pissed-off in this? Well you'd be right. My Mom was SO excited about finishing the costume that she had to wake me up from a very lovely nap in the sun on the deck to model. Jeesh...can't a pup get a break at all?

Enough about me...now on to the REAL fun!!! The Sacramento Area Boston Terrier Social Club's (yep, I belong to a club!) monthly meetup! I haven't gone in a few months because we've been busy so not only was I excited to see all my BT friends, but it's Howl-o-Ween, and if I have to suffer in a silly costume, I need my friends to suffer too - hee hee hee!

Mom didn't get a lot of good pix because there was so much commotion going on, but here are a few...

If you can believe it, I didn't win the costume contest...no, my friend Lulu the 'Showgirl' won. Oh well, there's always next time...wait, what am I saying? Another costume??? Oh no....

Whole Bunch a Nothing Going On...

Friday, October 12, 2007

OK, so I'm bored and it's been boring here. Mom's been working a lot and going out at night (the nerve) and I've just been hanging out...alone. But this is going to be an exciting weekend...it's my monthly BT meet up on Saturday with our costume contest. Yay!

Oh, speaking of costumes...I know what I'm gonna be for Howl-o-Ween and let's just say I'm NOT amused. I think my Mom is taking revenge for this incident. Hoomans...they don't ever forget, do they? I'll show you guys tomorrow, ok?

Mom and I have been spending time getting everything ready for my Nanny's visit next Thursday. I'm very excited to meet her...we are going to have SO much fun...I just know it. What's really great is that Mom took off from work too...so I'll have my Mom and my Nanny for 24-hr snackie dispensing and park playing! Woot!

I also start class again tonight. Just another refresher course...Mom says I've been getting sloppy with following commands lately...I think it is more like she's lazy and won't work with me! You know me pups, I'll do ANYTHING if a snackie is involved!!!

OK, Mom's off to work and I'm off to nap (my work!) Have a great Friday!!! And we promise, we'll be catching up on our bloggy reading and commenting...we miss all you pups and hammies!!!

P(ee)S - Don't forget to let me know if you want a reservation on Aire Ruby for the big Costume Barkday Bash!!! It's gonna be a blast!!!

P(ee)P(ee)S - Hey, can you vote for me??? Check out my sidebar...I've entered in the Dogster World's Coolest Dog Show!!!

My Theme Song

Tuesday, October 09, 2007

Last week I was tagged by the Army of Four to post about my theme song. This was a tough one...so I asked my Mom for some help.

First we thought about all the songs with Ruby in the title, like The Rollings Stones, 'Ruby Tuesday'. I didn't like that song (Mick Jagger is kinda scawie to me), but it does make me think of hamburgers which is good. Than it was the Roisin Murphy song 'Ruby Blue'...which incidentally is what I was named after. Well, the song is catchy and you can totally dance to it, but the words aren't anything like me. So we thought about the new Ruby song my friend Marvin told me about by the Kaiser Chiefs. Again catchy...but I don't know. Maybe my theme song doesn't need to have Ruby in the title. So we thought some more...

Than Mom came up with this...

Snackeater
(inspired by Maneater)
Music by Darryl Hall and John Oats
Words by Mom

Ruby snacks day and night
But stays very lean and tight
All she'll do is chew, she's done it all before
Watching and waiting
She's sitting with you but her eyes are on the bully
So many have come to see
All her tricks that are very funny
Ruby is wild, a BT tamed by the shaking of a bag
Snackies only matter
If your looking for licks you'll get lots when shes done

Oh here she comes
Watch out bones she'll chew you up
Oh here she comes
She's a Snackeater
Oh here she comes
Watch out bones she'll chew you up
Oh here she comes
She's a Snackeater

Well, what do you think? I think Mom should stick to her day job otherwise she'll be like that bumble bee guy and make it on this list. I mean who still listens to those old guys anymore...that song was like from a million years ago. Hey, but I do love me my snackies...

I thought this was a hard tag, but I'm still going to tag some pups...let see, Joey, I'm gonna tag you for the first time! Woot! And my dear Miss Asta Up Over, my Stanny, Butchy & Snickers, Fig, Tadpole and my new friend Ralph. Sing it to me pups, sing it to me!!!

Fair Oaks Doggie Walk

Sunday, October 07, 2007

Hi Pups, Girl-Girl and Moosie...

WOW! What an exciting weekend. First there was Butchy's Birfday Campout (go to his site for the most pawsome pictures). What an amazing time and I think Marvin coined a new phrase...'what happens at the campout, stays at the campout'! Must have been because of all the cocktails he was drinking - hee hee hee!

No sooner did I arrive home but does Mom and Auntie Yvette harness me up and out the door we go to the 5th Annual Fair Oaks Dog Walk. Woot!
Stanny, see I'm wearing one of the bananas you sent me, don't I look stylish?
OK, so I didn't actually do the walk, which was probably an ok thing since I was just a little bit too excited! The park where the walk's 'after-party' was held was right down the street from where we live. On the way out of the complex I stopped by my friend Bruno's place to get him and his Mom Katie. I know I've never talked about Bruno before, but he is one of my bestest friends and we play bitey face and chase each other all the time. I'll post about him some more later this week so you can get to know him better.

Anyhowl, me, Mom, Auntie Yvette, Katie and Bruno headed down to the park and on the way the two of us were so excited we were just running and chasing and biting each other...it was the bestest fun and just the beginning!!!

I couldn't believe my Boston Terrorist eyes...there were sooo many doggins at the park!!! All different kinds (but no other BTs, hee hee hee). It was amazing. Below are some photos Auntie Yvette took of the event.

Some of the highlights of the morning were...
  • Snackies...EVERYWHERE...at the different vendor tables and even some on the ground. It was like snackie heaven!!! Yay!
  • Miss Cindy, my teacher was there with her brand new puppy Gypsy!!! And Miss Cindy told me I was getting to come to class next week - Woot!
  • Dr. Marcia, my vet was there!!! Oh and so was the really nice nursey who gives me lots of treats - Yum!
  • I met a little(oops I mean BIG) Landseer Newfy girl named Maggie who was just the sweetest, softest little(BIG) girl I've every met. Nanook...she was a beauty and thanks to all the info you and your Mama posts, my Mom could talk very intelligently to Maggie's Mom. In fact Maggie's Mom was so surprised my Mom even knew what a Landseer was!!! Yahoo!
  • Mom bought some very yummy treats for me and we found that a brand new doggie store was opening next month right near where we live!!!! Double Woot!!!
It was such a fun time. I got to see a lot of my friends like Dodger, Zoe & Raven, Bob & Cooper, and of course Bernard. When we got back home, Mom made this very yummy potato soup and you know how I know it was yummy? Well she even gave me a little!!! I know!!! She never shares her food, but she said it was a special day and I deserved it!!! After all the excitement here is what I did...
Oh, but not before I barked to my Nanny. Do you know what she did on Saturday??? She visited Nanook and Pooka!!!!! I'm so jellyfish...she had the bestest time. Nook and Pook were perfect gentlepups (well almost) and she really enjoyed visiting with their pawrents. Thanks Nook and Pook for taking such good care of my Nanny...she's coming to visit me in a few weeks and I can't wait to meet her!!!! Oh and Asta...my Nanny said she wants to come to the big city and visit you next!!!

My First Day

Thursday, October 04, 2007

My bestest NYC gal-pup Asta tagged me last week to tell you pups about my first day home. Well let me tell you, what an exciting day THAT was.

So let's start by talking a little about my fur family...I was one of 6 puppies. Four boys and 2 girls. Here's a picture of me and my sister...

That's me on the left and and on the right, my sister --- let's call her Bat Girl because she kinda has a bat girl mask on, don't ya think??? Not to confuse you any, but this is my litter-sister. Sophia, my other fur sister was born a year earlier and lives in NJ with my Auntie Joey and cuzin Danny.

Anyhowl, my Mom decided even before I was born she wanted a girl puppy. Not exactly sure why...but I'm certainly glad she did. Also, my Mom never met me before I came to live with her. See I was born in Missouri and you all know we live in California. Boy, was my Mom brave to just pick me from a picture (fortunately I was a cute girl, huh?)...but she trusted my fur mom's Mom and also saw what a great pup Sophia was too. Here are a few more shots before I came to live with my Mom...

Now on to the big day...my Mom was real nervous because little 4lb me had to fly all the way from Missouri to San Francisco all by myself. But I was a super brave girl and did a-OK!!! Here's me right off the plane...

That was the first day I met Auntie Yvette too...she came with my Mom to get me. Both of them couldn't believe how little I was. I slept in Auntie Yvette's arms the whole way home.

When we got home I immediately took a look around. Found my water dish...took a drink and than found my bed to rest...
I still have the blankie and that purple and green toy, but the elephant and my first bed are in stuffy heaven now.

Later in the day my Uncle Mark (Bob & Cooper's Dad) and my Granny-E (Uncle Mark's Mom) came to visit me. Guess I had just the right about of rest by the time they visited because I was up and ready to play. They said I was a feisty girl and that I was going to be a handful...boy were they right.

After they left it was just me and Mom alone for the first time. I think Mom was kinda nervous, but she didn't let on. We went for a little walkie outside so I could get a feel for my new 'hood...oh, and I met Dodger for the first time. He was the first doggie I ever met out side of my fur family. He's my bestest 'real doggie' friend.

One silly thing that my Mom forgot to do before she got me was to get a baby gate. She knew that I was going to stay in the kitchen area (aka Kitchen Prison) at bedtime and when Mom went to work, but for some reason she didn't get it before I arrived. So imagine this...my first day home and I get to go to doggie Disneyland - PetCo!!! She held me in her arms the whole time but I could tell that this was going to be a place I would love when I got older!!!

After that little adventure we came home, I ate my dinner (I've always been a good eater), had another little walkie and than settled in for bed. I guess my Mom was worried I might be scared because she slept in the living room on the couch while I slept in my little bed in the kitchen. I don't remember this, but she said I didn't cry and I only got up once during the night to go pottie...what a good girl I was. Sleeping in my Kitchen Prison didn't last...by about day 4, I started sleeping in Mom's bed and now it is MY bed - hee hee hee.

So that's it. Even though I sometimes give my Mom a hard time about stuff, I know what a lucky girl I am that she picked me!! OK, I wanna tag some pups for this because I think learning about your first day at home is fun...so I tag my BFF Suki (of course), Bernard and Luckie...tell us about your first day!!!

Now Taking Reservations on Aire Ruby...

Tuesday, October 02, 2007

Many-stop service to:

Can you believe it? Another pawty...oh I can't wait. I'm just a little worried tho'...I've never been camping before...what should I bring? Will it be cold? Will we have sleeping bags? Do I need to bring marshmallows? Decisions, Decisions.

Here I am in my fishing cap and vest...will this work? Is there gonna be fishing???

UPDATE: eTicket Confirmation List - Pups, there is still lots of room with lots of toys and snacks!!!

30 Days and Counting...

Monday, October 01, 2007

Hey Pups, Girl Girl and Moosie...

I'm not sure WHAT all the big deal is, but my Mom is bouncing about the house with cobwebs (like we didn't already have them that she had to go out and buy some) and pumpkins in preparation for !!!

I really don't quite understand this holiday...I mean you don't get presents or anything and they make you get dressed up and you all know how I LOVE to get dressed up.

Anyhowl...Mom has been acting all crazy and hiding for long stretches of time in the spare bedroom/office. She has this crazy mad scientist look about her. I think she is making me something for my BT meetup in 2 weeks. I'm really not liking the sound of that. I mean, look at the torture she put me thru last year...

So who knows what's going to happen to me...pray for me pups, I'm really worried.

Oh and if your pawrents are as crazy as my Mom, they are going to want to remember these dates...

PetCo's Howl -O-Ween Contest Deadline is Friday - October 12th

PetSmart's Howl-O-Ween Contest Deadline is Sunday - October 14th

I'm not sure what it's all about, but Mom said I needed to post about it and that your pawrents would be interested and not want to miss. Whatever...
