Gifts from the East...

Saturday, June 30, 2007

What is that I hear? Oh, a knock on the door...

Ruby: Who is it??? Oh, Mr. Mailman!!! Hi! Do you have something for me?
Mr. Mailman: Why yes Ruby...I come bearing gifts from the East!
Ruby: Gifts from the East??? Hmmm....who could that be from...

OH - MY - DOG!!!
NANOOK & POOKA
*Snif, snif, snif* I think I smell Nanook!!!
Um, I have no thumbs, can you please put the camera down and help me open this?
Look at this haul!!! I must be dreaming!!!
Going right to the good stuff...Zuke's!!! Yipee!!!
Pink, and purple and green...oh my!
Hey, I can floss my teefies with this AND play too!
This is Nanook's signature...you can't tell from here, but it was HUGE! I think his paw is the size of my head!!!

Thanks Nanook and Pooka for the pawsomest prezzie ever!!! I don't have a picture, but I took the fishy and ran under the bed with it...I named him Nemo...I love him!

Lots of Licks, Ruby

All about my Mom...

Friday, June 29, 2007

Lorenza and Suki and her Mom, Katy tagged me to tell you about my Mom. Mom's kind of a private person and I've only been living with her for a year now so I wasn't sure how to go about this and I really don't like when she takes over my blog (Ruby's Mom: Ruby!). So I figured I'd take what Tad and Wally did and interview her. Then, I wasn't sure what kind of questions to ask her. Now I'm not sure if this breaks the rules of indepth interviews or not, but she provided me with acceptable questions (Is that right? That doesn't sound right!). Anyhowl, the questions she let me ask come from her favorite magazine Vanity Fair (oh, she reads LOTS of magazines) and one of her favorite TV shows Inside the Actor's Studio. Here we go...

Ruby: Thanks for sitting down with me and letting me ask these questions.
Mom: Did I have a choice?
Ruby: Um, no...but it's for Lorenza and Suki...you love them!

Ruby: What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Mom: Sipping a Starbucks, venti, shaken, black iced tea with 3 pumps of Melon, on a warm day at the beach with you by my side.
Ruby: What's 'the beach', we've never been to the beach. Oh and you really need to work on that Starbucks addiction, I fear it will cut into my treat supply one day soon.
Mom: Ruby! I will refuse to answer questions if you are mean.
Ruby: I'm not mean, I'm just very observant...and it's kinda obvious to anyone who sees all the Starbucks cups in your car!

Ruby: Which living person do you most admire?
Mom: My Sister, Auntie Joey...she's done a really good job taking care of your cousin Danny under some challenging circumstances! Plus, she's really cool.
Ruby: If she's so cool, how come I haven't met her yet?
Mom: She lives far away.
Ruby: So...you have heard of an airplane, haven't you?
Mom: Next question...

Ruby: What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
Mom: Procrastination
Ruby: What's pro-crap-tin-nation?
Mom: I'll tell you later.

Ruby: What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Mom: Tardiness
Ruby: Is tardiness when people poop a lot?
Mom: Nope you're probably thinking of turdiness, which isn't really a word.

Ruby: What is your greatest extravagance?
Mom: Yarn and Doggie Toys.
Ruby: OK, now we're talking, I take back the earlier Starbucks comment. Oh, and yarn...that's a doggie toy too you know?
Mom: Unfortunately I do!

Ruby: What do you dislike most about your appearance?
Mom: That would be a really long list.
Ruby: Oh, don't be silly, you are bootiful. Like dogter, like mother!
Mom: Don't worry, you'll get a snack after this.

Ruby: What is your greatest regret?
Mom: Working too much.
Ruby: I agree and I've been meaning to talk to you about that.
Mom: Go talk to your Uncle Mark about that.

Ruby: Which talent would you most like to have?
Mom: Playing the piano...your Nanny's gonna love THAT answer!
Ruby: Why will Nanny love that answer?
Mom: Well Ruby, Nanny tried to get me to learn piano and I really didn't want to.
Ruby: Oh, and what's a pee-ah-no? Does it have to do with peepee'ing?
Mom: Um, no. Next question.

Ruby: Will I ever get a Dad?
Mom: Hey! That wasn't on the approved question list!
Ruby: I have a right to know...a lot of my doggie friends have them, why don't I?
Mom: This is not the time.
Ruby: You know Nanny wants to know this too.
Mom: Oh I know she does...next question or no snack!
Ruby: OK, next question.

Ruby: What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Mom: Picking up and moving to CA all by myself - oh and getting you.
Ruby: Good Answer, particulary the last part.

Ruby: What is your favorite word?
Mom: Ramekin
Ruby: What's a ramekin?
Mom: It's a little dish.
Ruby: That's silly to like that as a word.
Mom: I just like the way it sounds.
Ruby: Whatever

Ruby: What is your least favorite word?
Mom: No
Ruby: Wow, that's my least favorite word too.
Mom: Really, I wonder why???

Ruby: What turns you on?
Mom: George Clooney
Ruby: Who's that?
Mom: Nevermind

Ruby: What turns you off?
Mom: Misbehaving doggies named Ruby.
Ruby: OK, lets move on to the next question.

Ruby: What sound or noise do you love?
Mom: Rain, ocean waves, babbling brook, anything water.
Ruby: I don't like the rain, especially because you make me wear that stoopid raincoat.

Ruby: What sound or noise do you hate?
Mom: Car alarms and loud barking doggies named Ruby.
Ruby: OK, next question.

Ruby: What is your favorite curse word?
Mom: Ruby, your site is rated 'G' and I'd like to keep it that way.

Ruby: What is your profession?
Mom: I am a software development manager for a health insurance company. We build web sites.
Ruby: Well that explains why you are always doing things to my blog.
Mom: Yes...and I have lots more I want to do too.
Ruby: Oh great...you know, that's cutting into my dog park time.
Mom: Remember what I said about being mean????

Ruby: OK, what profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Mom: I'd like to be a writer.
Ruby: Why?
Mom: I like to tell stories.
Ruby: Would they be about me?
Mom: Let's move on.

Ruby: What profession would you not like to do?
Mom: Hmmm, there are a lot, but I don't think I'd like to be a doctor. Too much pressure.
Ruby: Yeah, and it's not nice to stick things up doggies butts or poke them with needles either.
Mom: Right.

Ruby: What is your motto?
Mom: When asked what I want I always say...
"Five million dollars, a good looking guy and a puppy!" One out of 3 ain't bad!
Ruby: What's my motto?
Mom: I would say 'Rub my Belly' or 'Show me the Snackie'
Ruby: OK, how about a snackie then?
Mom: Are we finished with this interview yet?
Ruby: Um...yes, now 'Show me the Snackie'!

I'd like to thank my Mom for letting me interview her, even if she DID provide me with the questions. Now I'm tagging Dory, Joe & Tanner and Fei. Tell me and my Mom all about your hoomans!

Now THIS is a big dog...

Thursday, June 28, 2007

At the park the other day I was playing...minding my own business. Chasing my Puggle friend Marley. All of a sudden out from the trees we see this...

Do you see that giant dog! He was HUGE...and there was this lady sitting on top of him! He was even too big to go into the big dog section of the park...it was wild!!! And just a little scawie!

I know the Dachsies have seen Cowdogs and Baby Cowdogs. But what is this thing? It looked like I could have been a mid-morning snackie for this guy!

Note from Michele, Ruby's Mom:
There are a couple of horses that live behind the dog park. You can never see them, but you can definitely hear them and Ruby always goes to the back of the park to see what it is. This was the first time I've seen any of the horses being ridden. It really was the funniest thing...there were about 15 dogs in the small dog section of the park at the time and they all lined up at the fence barking and howling! The horse didn't flinch...it was really amazing.

I pledge allegiance...

Hey Everydoggie and Girl Girl...

Thanks for all the great words of encouragement on the Joey situation...I'm feeling so much better now. You pups always set me straight. I was kinda worried about Joey, but everydoggie was right, I went home with my Mom, not Joey. I think I'll keep him around as a friend...but that's it. He's NOT coming home with us...not ever.

Now on to some wonderful news...Fei and Eve reached their goal of 25 DWB'ers for their pledge - Woo Hoo!!! My Mom and I also pledged so I thought I would tell you about the organization that we donated to. It's called Wonder Dog Rescue...how fitting, right? I'm Wonder Ruby, they are Wonder Dogs...I'm a Boston Terrier...they rescue Boston Terriers...you get the picture.

Wonder Dog Rescue is located in San Francisco (can you believe there is no BT rescue in Sacramento!). Although they specialize in BTs, if they have the space they will take any doggie in need. Here's what they do...

We are a dedicated volunteer group working primarily out of the San Francisco Bay Area. We've saved blind and deaf dogs, puppies as young as two weeks and seniors as old as 15! Each animal has so much to offer... and we learn so much by opening our hearts to these deserving companions.

When a dog comes into rescue he or she is evaluated carefully. Some dogs have particular needs, and receive medical care or behavior modification. We work with each dog, giving them the love and structure they need to move onward.

Dogs stay in foster homes until they are matched with their ideal family. We want these adoptions to be life long, and take this very seriously!

I love that...they want their adoptions to be life long!!! Isn't that the way it should be???

When me and my Mom learned that the pledge had been successful, Mom went right over to the Wonder Dog web site, whipped out the magical plastic card she has, and made our pledge. But Mom thought it was really important that Wonder Dog knew WHY we had donated. So my smartie-pants Mom sent a really nice email to them. She was kinda worried they would think she was a little crazy because she said that I had a blog (now why would THAT be crazy - look at how many of us doggies have blogs! ). But the nice lady from Wonder Dog wrote back at how appreciative she was and how cool it was that we all had blogs. She even sent me this really cool thank you card...

Make sure you go check the card out...the doggie talks and his eyes follow you...kinda creepy - but very cool!

Anyhowl...I'm very happy that we were able to help...even if it was just a little. Mom said that she would stay in touch with the Wonder Dog lady, Linda (I think I'll just call her Wonder Linda!) and help when we can. I'm so glad there are very kind and generous people out there who are willing to help all these poor pups. Thanks Fei and Eve for thinking of such a great thing to do!

Friend or Rival

Monday, June 25, 2007

I'm trying to figure out if I should be worried or not...allow me to explain.

On Saturday we headed out to the park early because it was going to be like a 75 trillion-quadrillion-billion-million degrees out again, but Mom REALLY wanted to go to the park. I couldn't figure out why until I got there. We met Mr. Rob there a friend of Mom's from work. I thought...cool...he'll play fetch with me...excellent. Well, the reason Mr. Rob was there was for me and Mom to meet this little fella. Allow me to introduce you...this is Joey...

Hi! I'm Joey, oh and that's Batman back there sniffing away!

Joey is 5 months old , brown, yes I did say brown Ike, Boston Terrorist! OMdOG my Mom went so crazy for this little guy! There was enough drool coming out of her mouth for a 'Simultaneous-Ropes-to-the-Floor' rating from Nanook's Newfy Drool-o-Meter! What an embarrassing moment. Can't I take this woman anywhere?

OK, Joey was darn cute. Not as handsome as Ike, no, not even close <blush>. But cute and very fun to play with. We chased each other and played a major game of bitey-face. All the other doggies were jealous of our cuteness and craziness (ok, maybe not so jealous of our craziness). We definitely had fun. Here's some random shots of Joey.

This album is powered by BubbleShare - Add to my blog
But what was really interesting was that my Mom wasn't chasing ME with the camera...can you believe that? No, she was chasing Joey! She took TONS of pictures of him. And hardly any of ME! Oh and kept going on about how if she had brought a bigger purse to the doggie park, she would be stuffing him in it and taking him home. Now why would she want to do that...he seemed to walk perfectly fine on a leash - geesh!

So...should I be worried about this little guy? My Mom was really into him...I was starting to get a little jealous. Normally I don't feel this way about the other doggies at the park, and trust me, if it has four legs my Mom is drooling like Wally with one of his frozen meaty bones...but this just seemed different. She REALLY liked him...I mean REALLY REALLY!

Faster than a speeding bullet...

Sunday, June 24, 2007

So I've being going on for months now on how fast I run. Fortunately you doggies have taken me on my word...all because we are such good friends. Well, finally some proof. This is not the best video (again, I blame the cinematographer) but you can kinda get the idea.

I'm no baby...

Don't Worry...

Thursday, June 21, 2007

Based on the comments from yesterday's post, there seemed to be a little concern about little Coco Nut and her involvement in the making of my new pleather coat. Both Fig and Massah-In-Law/Coco's Auntie were a little worried that I did something to her. Well, I could never hurt sweet little Coco Nut...not ever! As you can see from the photo below little Coco Nut was just sleeping...

See, no Coco Nuts were harmed in the making of my coat!

My Fashion Emergency

Wednesday, June 20, 2007

OK, so I think Mom failed to distribute the memo to all my friends and family. Oh, and what memo am I talking about? Well, the one that says...
Please refrain from purchasing, making or otherwise procuring any kind of clothes for Ruby. She likes to be naked, au natural. She doesn't like to wear clothes. Save your money or if you insist on buying her something a snack, toy or collar would be acceptable.

Thank You, Management.
Now how hard is that to understand? Not hard at all. My Mom promised me that she would never make me wear clothes. In fact she has even refrained from knitting me something (and she loves to knit - that is when I let her). OK, you've seen me in a coat and a rain jacket...well I get cold in the winter and I hate to be wet so I suffer through that. So why am I bringing this up now of all times? Well, in the course of a week I got 2 outfits from individuals who shall remain nameless. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate it and they are pretty (really they are)...I just DON'T LIKE WEARING CLOTHES!!!

OK, here is the first offender...a 'pleather', fur trimmed coat.
Doesn't it look like I have little CoCo Nut around my neck?

Do I look happy about this??? Plus it's like 7 zillion-million-trillion degrees out!

OK, so it is kinda cute and I do look good in it. Hmmm, maybe I'll wear this one...you know, in the winter, when it's cold.

And here is the second offender...Marilyn Monroe-like, silky dress
So I don't even think Mom knew which way this should be put on!

Here's what I think of you dress!!!

OK, I'm better now...just had to get this off my chest...hey Tanner, there's my little secret...I HATE CLOTHES!!!

Note from Ruby's Mom:
Hi Everydoggie and Girl Girl...Ruby is a very lucky girl to have so many people who love her, think she is cute and want to buy her things. But no matter how many snacks or diversions she just won't go for wearing anything but the fur God gave her. She barks and whines and just runs and hides whenever I try this. Please don't think her ungrateful by any stretch of the word...she just knows what she likes and doesn't like! Oh, and it's only 97 degrees today...please excuse Little Miss Drama Queen. (Ruby: Mom - I AM NOT A DRAMA QUEEN!!!)

What a difference a day makes...

Tuesday, June 19, 2007

Hi Everydoggies and GirlGirl!!!

Sorry for yet another cheesy song reference...I really need to get a new playlist going on my iPod! But actually today is SOOOO much better than yesterday mainly because my bestest friend in the whole wide world, Suki, sent me some prezzies!!! She (and her Mom Katy) are just the most pawsomest!!!! So let me give you the play-by-play...

Here I am inspecting the box...
Oh, I think I smell Suki!!!

What's this? A purse...every pup about town needs one and this one talks too!!! It's says 'I love you'..and I love you too Suki!!!
And it is pink...my favorite color!

OMdOGGY...snackies! They smelled so good. I actually ran under the table to try and open up the bag - hee, hee, hee. Mom didn't like that much because she didn't want me to spoil my dinner. But if they taste as good as they smell I'll be in snackie heaven!!!
Oh how I wish there was smell-er-net so you pups could smell these things!

I also got a really cool AquaPal toy that you fill with water and when you chew on it water squirts out!!! I've already had Mom fill it up and put it in the freezer for tomorrow! That will really come in handy since it's like a million-zillion degrees out!!!
I can't wait until tomorrow to play with you my little AquaPal!

I also got a really pretty pink blankie! It's bootiful!!! Since I don't have a bed anymore this will keep me comfy AND warm. Suki, you are always so thoughtful!!!
Can you see how happy I am??? I hardly smile for pictures, but I'm so happy I couldn't resist!!! Look at all my great things!!! Oh, one last shot...

I know this isn't really you Suki but THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Lots of Licks, Ruby

This is how I help Mom knit...

'Nuf said...
Do you like my handy work???

This is what happens when you don't come home for lunch...hee, hee, hee

I HATE Mondays!

Monday, June 18, 2007

In the immortal words of the Carpenters*,
'Rainy days and Mondays always get me down...'
OK, so it isn't raining, but it's like a gazillion degrees out. This means, no park and no long walkie because Mom's afraid my brain will melt like Tanner's. I actually think it's because she's too lazy!

Now Monday's are bad to begin with because it means I'm back in my kitchen prison and Mom goes to work, but as far as Monday's go...this was the WORST!!!! For starters guess who DIDN'T come home for lunch? Yep, Mom...which means no walkie and no snackie and no kiss. What's worse is that Mom didn't even send Auntie Yvette over! Can you believe that? So you know what happened? Yup, I peepee'd on the floor! I'm so ashamed...I haven't done that in a while but what choice did I have???

If that's not enough there was a knock on the door. I think it was Mr. Mailman. Suki said Mr. Mailman might be bringing me a special package today. I'm not sure if that is what it was, but by the time Mom finally got home from work the office at our apartment was closed. So I don't know if Mr. Mailman was bringing me Suki's package and now I have to wait until tomorrow to find out. That just make me mad!!!

So as you can see, it was a bad day all around. I think I'll just go and pout for awhile...

* Apologies for the cheesy 70's reference. Gives you an idea of what I'm up against in my choice of music. Oh sure you thought going to The Police concert made Mom all cool, right. Nope, she listens to cheesy 70's music too...also gives you an idea of how old she really is!

Let's Play Fetch!

Sunday, June 17, 2007

I sometimes wonder about my Mom. For as smart and geeky as she is, the simplest of things she can't seem to figure out. Take her 5+ year old camera. Sure, it follows me around and takes pictures, but guess what? It ALSO takes movies too! Did my Mom know this? She said she did, but if so why did it take her so long to post my VERY FIRST VIDEO????

OK, it's not the best cinematography (thanks Mom), and the film editor (Mom again) still has some learning to do, but the star (um, Me) is right on the mark!

So it's definitely not going to win a F.I.D.O, but you can see I have talents...I can run fast - this is not as fast as I really can go. Mom says I can only do that in the park. Oh and I can play fetch really well...but I'm still learning how to give the ball back! But you probably caught that didn't you?

Now that Mom has figured out the whole camera thing, I'm pretty sure you'll see some more movies real soon...at least I hope you will!

An important message to all you Dad's out there...

Have a great day all you doggie Dads!
Lots of Licks, Ruby

It's Getting HOTTTTT in Here...

Friday, June 15, 2007

OK, it's not even officially summer yet and it is sooooo HOTTTTT!!!! OK, maybe it's not as HOTTTTT as where Joey and Tanner live, but I don't like it when it is this HOTTTTT. I can't go to the park, the pads on my paws start to hurt when I walk on the sidewalk, none of my friends want to play. Here's how HOTTTTT it is today...

So even though all you doggies already know this, my Mom wanted me to post how important it is for our hoomans take good care of us during these hot summer months. All doggies need to watch out but especially doggies like me, Suki, Tadpole, Nanook & Pooka, and all my huskie friends need to be really careful in the summer months. Here's a good article my Mom found that gives some helpful information on what to look out for.

I know these things seem like common sense and our hoomans are pretty smart, but it doesn't hurt to have a little helpful reminder, right? Stay cool and here's to eating lots of frosty paws!

Like my styling shades?

Stop! Police!

Thursday, June 14, 2007

How is it that Mom sees The Police and I get sent to prison???

We woke up Wednesday morning just like normal...except Mom didn't go to work. So you know what I was thinking...PARK TIME!!! But nope, no park...we did get in the car and start like we were going to the park, but kept on driving...until we got to this place called the Wag Hotel (aka prison).

And she just left me there! Can you believe that? Gone! Poof! Out the door she goes! The nerve of her! Oh and what did she do??? She went to see this Bumblebee guy...

Ruby's Mom: Honey, that's Sting!

OK, Sting...whatever, you left me woman!!! Anyhowl, She went and saw Sting and the other Policemen...

So she goes to see the Policemen playing their music and because she was going to be out partying ALL NIGHT she leaves me at this prison place overnight!!! I was supposed to be waiting at home by my computer to get an update on my dear friend Suki! Suki needed me! I didn't even know until this morning that she was ok! I was so worried! (Ruby's Mom: Stop being a Drama Queen...they said you had fun there!!!)

Alright, so maybe it was a little fun...I had my own pretty room with this really nice bed (which I didn't eat) and they played music for me. I also got to go to two (count 'em TWO) playgroups and everyone was really, really nice to me. Oh and I had a bath that I actually didn't mind (can you believe it!). The bath had these little hydrojetty things and they felt really good. OK, so maybe it was more than a little fun, it was a lot of fun. And ok, I'll go back again if I have to. But don't tell my Mom that...she needs to understand she shouldn't be able to have any fun without me! Ever!

You can call me...

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

So cute little Lorenza did a post asking about nicknames. I don't quite get the nickname thing...what's wrong with my actual name that I need to have another one, two, three, or four??? It is actually amazing that I know my name considering all the nicknames I have. Here's a sampling...

Wonder Ruby - the one that I actually like...for obvious reasons. I was Wonder Woman for Halloween last year and it was a blast. My Mom made the coolest costume ever...not sure how she is going to top it this year.

RB - ok, that's dumb. My initials? How original is that..oh, wait...my Mom named her Airedale when she was a pup 'AD' so what should I expect.

Princess Mud Puddle - she always says that AFTER I have rolled in the mud at the park. I don't exactly think she means it as a compliment.

Pumkinhead - This is what Auntie Yvette calls me...why, I do not know. Hey isn't Pumpkinhead that scawie monster from the movies??? EEEEKKKKK!!!

The Rubinator - So anyone who doesn't live under a rock knows that the one and only Terminator is Governor of California...so seeing how we live in Sacramento (where the governator lives) she calls me the Rubinator...whatever.

Cujo - you know, after that Stephen King killer dog. She called me that in puppy class when she said I terrorized the little'r dogs. I never terrorized anydoggie...I was just playing!

And finally, there are the 'girl' names like...
Snorty Girl - Mom always calls me that when I'm getting excited while I'm playing. Don't pigs snort...hmmm...what is she saying about me? Have I gained weight??? Do I look fat? Oh no!

Cute Girl Ruby - Mom's friend Miss Debbie calls me that. I like it because I'm cute, and a girl.

Baby Girl - My friend Dodger's dad calls me that. I'm not a baby anymore, but I don't mind it.

Beastie Girl or Crazy Girl - Those are 'catch all' nicknames for when I'm doing mean or crazy things...which is like, never. (Ruby's Mom: Oh, really?)

So that's it. Don't you think that is enough nicknames? I'm just a little dog! I'm sure Mom will come up with more over time. OK doggies...tell us your nickname(s)!

PS - Shameless Plug Alert!
Don't forget to vote for Me, Ike (Ike & Ike) and Martha in the SPCA photo contest. You can only vote once per email adress, so go get another email address if you've already voted...Yahoo email addresses ARE free you know! (Ruby's Mom: Ruby - Stop that!) Oh and let me know if you entered so I can vote for you too.

Oh My dOG!!!

Monday, June 11, 2007

I was surfing around YouTube and look what I found...

A shakeboarding Boston named Maui!!! I've seen Tyson, the skateboarding bulldog...but I just thought that was an urban legend and not real! I just can't believe it!!! Ike, Martha, Bruin, Joey & Tanner, Fig, Seadra, Bentley & Niko...what do you Bostons think? I don't think I'm brave enough for that...I'll stick to running!

Weekend Update...meetup & pawty!

Sunday, June 10, 2007

Oh my...what a busy weekend. Where to start...

On Friday night Mom and I went to PetCo but we didn't buy anything! Isn't that silly? Oh, wait, we bought a bottle of water? What's up with that?!?!?! We went there to do some practice training...boring! Actually it's not boring at all, I get SOOOOO excited and that is the point, Mom wants me to be a little calmer when we visit shops. Doesn't she understand...it's like going to doggie Disneyland! I did score some cookies from the nice man at the counter when we were leaving so it was an ok trip.

On Saturday me, Mom and Auntie Yvette went to the SABTSC monthly meetup. We didn't go last month so I was really excited to go and see some of my friends. There were over 20 Bostons there!!! Can you believe it??? We only got one picture...it's of my pal LuLu. She looks quite beautiful, don't you think???

It was really hot and while hanging by the doggie pool I met up with what I thought was my twin...another brindle Boston named George! I thought I was the only brindle Boston around my neck of the woods...but NO! There's George. I guess he was cute enough, but he did have a doofus dot on the top of his head and you know what that means don't ya??? I wouldn't let Mom take any pictures of him because I'm the only brindle Boston she needs to have pictures of!!!

Also at the meet up I met some kind of ornery terriers who let me share their water...that is until I ran away with their water dish, ahem, twice! Silly hoomans just leaving it there! It was on the ground just waiting for me to run away with it!!!

After the park it was a nap time for me and laundry time for Mom. Mom also baked...a lot! Some more of the Banana Mutt cookies and Nanook's Mom's Salmon cookies. OMdog they were delish!!! And the smell...absolute doggie heaven!!! (Ruby's Mom: Vanessa was right...it smelled like a fish market all night). Mom made a whole bunch of cookies. You know why...well it was for our Pawty on Sunday!!!

Aside from the monthly BT meetup we have, we also have a weekly one too. Only a few doggies regularly come, but it's a chance to get out. So my Mom and my friend LuLu's Mom planned a barkday pawty for all the pups whose barkday's fell within April, May or June. I lucked out because my barkday is in April and my Rubiversary (that is what I'm calling the day I came to live with my Mom) is in June. Also celebrating birthdays were LuLu, Brendie and Chili. Chili's not a BT, but we like her and her brother Boo a lot so we included them too.

Here are some photos from the pawty...

After the pawty it was home for a bath (yuck) and for my Mom to start cooking again. Unfortunately not for me this time. She's making lazyonya (Ruby's Mom: Lasagna!) again for a end of Sopranos party she's going to - whatever that means. I'm not sure if I get to go or not. For now I think I'll just go nap to rest up just in case.

Oh, almost forgot...Mom went and entered a photo of me for the SPCA Photo Contest - vote for me...please. Oh and vote for my friends too...Ike and Martha!

Thanks a lot, Sir Chance-lot...

Look, look everydoggie...Chance's Mom made me my very own drop...

This is the prettiest thing I've ever seen!!! I feel so special!
I know Chance thinks his Mom is going drop crazy...but I'm happy she is!
Thanks so much Chance and Hanne!

Special Day...

So today is a VERY special day. It is one year ago today - June 8th - that I came to live with my Mom, Michele. My how time flies!!! I can hardly believe it!!! Last year, my Mom and my Auntie Yvette (you know, the person who gives me the great footie massages) went all the way to San Francisco to pick me up from the airport. I was only 8 weeks old and it was real scawie. But I was a strong girl even then.

Here's a picture of me right when I got off the airplane...

Can you believe how little I was??? I was only 4 lbs! My kennel was the smallest of all the doggies who came in that day.

My Mom was real nervous...I could tell, but she did fine. And Auntie Yvette was a big help! It was a long ride home and I just slept in Auntie Yvette's lap...that was nice. Ahhhhh....

Mom was really prepared for me to come home. I guess she was planning for my arrival for a VERY long time. I had lots of toys, yummy snackies and a nice comfy bed which I went right to (and yes eventually ate - hee, hee, hee).

It took a little while for me to teach my Mom all she needed know about taking care of me...but she got the hang of it eventually. She's smart that way.

I had five other brothers and sisters my Mom could have picked. I am so happy and lucky she picked me!!!

My Friend Suki

Thursday, June 07, 2007

Tomorrow my BFF Suki goes in for surgery to have her girly bits removed. I know she is a little scared about it so I thought I would dedicate today's post to her to let her know how much she means to me and everydoggie out there!

Why I like Suki...

Well for one, she was one of the first pups to welcome me to the bloggysphere. She visited my blog everyday and responded to my newbie posts and always had good words of advice to offer. I really appreciated that a lot.

She's also such a cute puggy, don't you all think? One of the cutest out there. She has a great sense of style (just look at that sweater!) And has a great sense of humor...always making jokes, telling funny stories and sharing very strange movies.

I also like that she, like me, is not afraid to explore and even feast on many delicacies of the world. I like a friend who is up for a good adventure!

She's also a great sister to Twix, Yesenia and Ava...oh and the kitties too (I can't remember their names, sorry Suki). I know if I were to have a sister, I'd want her to be just like Suki.

So here's to you my puggy pal...good luck on Friday all will be fine.
I love ya!
