Hanging with Bob and Cooper...

Saturday, April 28, 2007

Wow, what a busy Saturday. I didn't get much sleep last night because I was SOOOO excited about chatting with everyone at the Pawty. But Mom and I got up early---we had lots to do today.

We started our day by making some of those yummy cookies that Joe and Doofus' Mom made. Boy, are they yummy!!! We also made some lazyonya (Ruby's Mom: Lasagna). Then we chatted some with Sophie Brador and Joe Stains. I even got to see Joe and Doofus on a web cam...so cool! After all the cooking and chatting Mom and I went to PetCo to do some shopping.

You see we were going to visit my buddies Bob and Cooper, so I wanted to buy them something special. Bob and Cooper's Mom and Dad, Uncle Mark and Aunt Michele, where on vacation in Hawaii and they missed them so much they were a little sad. So we were going to go and cheer them up. I'm not sure why they couldn't go with them on their trip...don't they let doggies in Hawaii? Anywho, we bought them some yummy rawhide bones and I got a peanut butter filled marrow bone. We were all going to sit by the pool and chew on our bones...a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon, don't you think.?

We got there and boy were the 'Boys' happy to see us, especially me. They were really happy when they saw their bones too! Here's Bob with his bone...doesn't he look happy???

Here's me trying to get the bone from Bob...his bone looked yummier than mine. Not sure why I couldn't get one of those bones??? Why Mom, why?

Bob didn't want to share his bone and kept growling so I went to see Cooper in the garage. He was so happy with his bone. I asked him to share and he said ok, and then we traded his bone for mine. Isn't he sweet???

Here I am with the 'big bone'. I think I know why Mom got me something different...this was just too big to carry around! It's almost as big as I am - ha, ha, ha! But it was really yummy anyway!!!

I'm so excited, I have crazy eyes!!!

Here's a picture of me and Bob from a few months ago...I think we were looking for food that's why we were so serious...sorry for the bad pix quality, it was taken on a mobile phone.

Here is a picture of Bob when he was just a pup...awwww, wasn't he cute? Actually he's still cute. Cooper was cute as a pup too, but I don't have a pix of him.

I just love visiting Bob and Cooper and I think they were happy to have some company. Luckily, Uncle Mark and Aunt Michele come home tonight so the Boys won't be sad anymore.

Tag, you're it...

Thursday, April 26, 2007

Hello Every Doggie and Every Person, Ruby's Mom Michele here. I thought I would wrestle the keyboard away from Ruby and formally say hi and thank everyone for the warm web welcome. We have both enjoyed making new friends and reading about everyone and are both looking forward to the Pawty this weekend...well, I'm looking forward to it, I think Ruby is just in it for the snacks.

It's been very fun over the last few weeks reading the different posts on how doggies got their names, where they sleep at night or what words they know that I thought I would offer a question...What's on your tag??

I spent a lot of time (probably too much) trying to find the perfect tag for Ruby. It actually took me a while before I found the Fetching Tags site. What great tags they are! Yes, a little pricey, but well worth it and what's best is that their site mascot is a Boston named Hazel.

Once I found the site it was agony to try and come up with the perfect tagline. I settled on 'Rub my Belly'.
Here's why...From the moment Ruby came home, her standard greeting was first the requisite butt wiggle followed by falling on her side and on her back. And she will just lay there until you decide to give her a good 'ol belly rub. So it may not have been very original, but it was a perfect tagline for Ruby.
So what kind of tag do you have? If it is a Fetching Tag, what does it say? How did you decide what it should say?

Pawty Time...

Tuesday, April 24, 2007

I am so very excited about the upcoming DWB 1st Anniversary Pawty this weekend. It's going to be so much fun to chat with all my new friends. Taking a page from Sherman, Penny and Lola, I had my Mom get some pictures ready for the big event.

Here's our, ahem, I mean Mom's office. She usually doesn't let me into the office much. I think it's because she's messy and just doesn't want me to know about it so I don't become messy too. As you can see, she tried to copy my Ferndoggle friends. Jeesh, couldn't she be more original??? I guess she put a little effort into the Bully Stick bouquet.

Here I am patiently waiting for her to let me have one of those yummy hot dog snackies. Oh the agony of waiting....picture after picture. And what is up with the chesse sticks. I'm so sorry, my Mom has much better taste than cheese sticks and Laughing Cow...I promise. She just hasn't gotten to the supermarket yet this week. (I'm so embarrassed)

Here I am checking out the wine selection.
At least my Mom has good taste in wine. This is a Peju (Napa Valley) Syrah. Not bad, not bad, but I'm more of a Reisling kind of pup. Oh, and Wally check it out, you are on my computer screen.

So we are ready to go...well almost, I still don't have a date yet...hmmmm...

Revolution Day...

Monday, April 23, 2007

So, I'm not really a Monday girl because it means my Mom needs to go back to work and I have to hang in the kitchen all by myself :( The other reason I don't like today in particular is because it's 'Revolution' day...I need to get my heartworm, flea and tick medicine which I really don't like at all! I know it is good for me, but it's so icky and my Mom (love her dearly) isn't very good at it giving it to me.

I know I really don't make it easy for her because I won't sit still, but she has bad aim and also it makes the fur on neck all stiff and yucky for a few days...and of course it is on the part of my neck that I really can't reach easily to clean it off. DOUBLE YUCK!

Notice my neck? Icky, huh?
Also, Mom seems to be loosing her touch in the photo department, this one is kind of blurry.

Mom thinks she's smart by trying to wait and do it while I'm napping...but it never works...hee, hee, hee. I just wish she would get me something in a pill. I don't mind taking pills...they are kinda shaped like snackies.

PS - My friend Lucy got a new fur-brother yesterday. Yay! Hey Ike, he's brown just like you. I'll post some pictures as soon as Mom and I go visit.

It's Saturday....

Saturday, April 21, 2007

Howdy...I was so looking forward to today. First because that means quality time with my Mom and second because today was our BT meetup day. Yahoo!!! All started out fine until Mom put on this owie bracelet. I know it's pink and I like pink, but it felt funny and I didn't like it. I wanted a bracelet like Opy's bracelet. But no....Mom said if I didn't wear the owie bracelet I couldn't go to the park. :( And I really wanted to go to the park. After a few minutes of devil-cuz fetch to make sure I could run with my owie bracelet it wasn't so bad...but I still didn't like it. Anywho...we were ready to go...

Here's me in my special car seat. I know, I know, I look a little peeved...well I just wanted to make sure we were going to the park. After the owie bracelet thing I wasn't so sure. But we did FINALY get to the park. Yay!

When we got to the park it was REALLY crowded...both the Yorkie and the Bulldog meetups were happening. I like the bulldogs fine, but I don't think the Yorkie parent's like me much because I run like a crazy girl. Phoey on them!!! So I started out in the big-dog part of the park where I met my friend LuLu. Here's LuLu greeting my Mom with a big sloppy smile. LuLu is the best!!!

Even though I don't always get to go to the big-dog side of the park, I like it a lot because the big dogs REALLY like to chase me. I just love that. It's so much fun because no matter how speedy the big dogs are I can always get away from them...hee, hee, hee. There was this really cute black lab puppy who kept chasing me. It was so much fun!!!!

Finally we made it over to the small-dog side of the park for the meetup. At first Mom wouldn't let me off my leash because there were still a lot of Yorkies over there and Mom didn't want me to get into any mischief...I was patient, but it was hard.

There were about 16 Boston's today which was GREAT! I got to see a lot of my friends. Here's Charlie, a new friend of mine. This is only Charlie's second time at the dog park...Mom and I met him and his Mom a few week's ago and convinced him to come in. He seemed to be having fun.

Then my pal Lucy came with her parents. I wasn't sure if Lucy was coming today because she's awaiting the arrival of her new fur-brother or sister...another Boston. She's very excited to get a sibling, but it means I won't be seeing her at the park for awhile. I guess that will be okay because when she does come back I'll have another friend to play with.

Here are a couple of random shots. I had such a good time! I can't believe I have to wait a whole month before we get together again :(

After about 2 hours of solid running and playing it was time to go home. I didn't want to go, but I was getting a little tired and ready for a little snuggle time with Mom. Here's one last picture...notice how my pink owie bracelet isn't very pink anymore...hee, hee, hee.

Collars of Many Colors...

Thursday, April 19, 2007

I recently discovered that my Mom is a shopper. She L*O*V*E*S to shop online. This has turned out to be quite beneficial to me. In fact just the other day, I got some mail which had 2 new Zoƫ's Collection collars and right after that a new step-in harness and leash from Cetacea. I am one lucky girl.

After modeling my new collars, I looked and realized I have A LOT of different collars! That's kinda crazy when you think about the fact that I only have one neck, right? But I guess to keep up with all you fashion divas out there having different collars to choose from is a necessity. I guess Collars are a Girl's Best Friend, oh that and snackies!

I'd like to thank the Academy...

Meet the ‘Dog of the Year’

OK, OK so I'm not really Dog of the Year...but Mom thought this was a fun pix. Also, kind of appropriate to celebrate my Pet-Health.org 'Awesome Pet Website Award' I got yesterday. Not to shabby for an Internet newbie like myself.

I'd better stop...Mom keeps saying I'm going to get a big head...whatever that means.

PS - No critters were harmed in the making of my beautiful furry scarf (Thanks Auntie Marianne and PupPal Bernard). Mom just thought I should mention it since PETA sponsored the picture :)

Why did Ruby Cross the Road...

To see the chickens of course!!!

So since my little owie incident and the rain, I haven't gone back to the park yet. It's a bummer, but instead, to get my exercise my Mom has been taking me on walks around our neighborhood.

Usually we just walk around our complex, but last few days we'be been walking to the downtown area of where we live...Fair Oaks. I know I haven't travelled a lot, but Fair Oaks is a little odd. There are chickens EVERYWHERE! Crazy, I know, but chickens...EVERYWHERE - just roaming the streets, hanging in the parks, EVERYWHERE! It's totally crazy!!! I get so excited!!!

These chickens make a lot of noise. I've always wondered what that noise was that would wake me up, and now I know...it's the CHICKENS!!! They are actually quite pretty , but I still think it is a little weird that they just wander around...is that safe? What about avian flu?

I tried to get close to them, but they kept running away from me. Maybe next time I need to bring them some snackies?

A Tale of Two Sisters...

Saturday, April 14, 2007

Well, no park today because it's raining. At least I didn't need to go see Dr. Marcia because my owie stopped bleeding. It's pretty quiet and Mom and I are just hanging out that I thought I'd tell you about my sister Sophia who lives with my Mom's sister.

Sophia is almost 2 years old (her birthday is July 22) and she lives with my Auntie Joey, cousin Danny and real close by my Nanny in New Jersey. Sophia's fur-parents are the same as mine! We were just born in different litters. How cool is that?!?!

Although we've never met, we are very much alike. Our moms say we are both very smart, like to run and snuggle and that our paws smell like Fritos (I know - weird). I guess we also both like to eat the stuffing out of our toys too...but I see absolutely nothing wrong with that! We both have a little Harry Potter thing going with the white marking on our heads...except Sophia's points opposite to mine...that's how we will always know we are sisters. Sophia is black and white and seems to always look angry in her pictures, but she looks really pretty here, don't you think???
Can you see the family resemblance???

I hope one day we'll get to meet and be able to run and play. That would be SO much fun!!!

This is my favorite pix of her...it's because she's all snuggled under the blankie I gave her for Christmas. I love you Sis!!!

WOW - That was fast...

Based on Suki & Ike's recommendation, I asked my Mom to order me some treats from FullPetential and not only did it come really fast but I also got a whole bunch of extra treats too! Yipee!!! Those people are really cool.

For my 'full-size' treat I got the Bits for Tricks, but also got the Chick Tenders, a Deli Twist, a Magic Bone and even some Kitty Treats (and I'm not even a cat!!!) Mom said I need to wait to try them and that I should share with my buddy Dodger and his kitty brother Eek, but I'm not so sure about that.

I get all the way to the park...

Friday, April 13, 2007

So I finally made it to the park today...Mom got home early, was feeling better, it wasn't raining...everything going according to plan. Then it happens...the owie on my left paw starts to bleed and I have to go home! Let me explain...

A couple of weeks ago my Mom noticed a little red bump on my paw. She told me she'd keep an eye on it and not rush to call the vet (Mom is ALWAYS calling the vet). After a few days she noticed it got bigger and started to worry so we went to see Dr. Marcia. Dr. Marcia (who I like because she gives me lots of yummy treats) said it was a hesosigh-sompthin-sompthin (Ruby's Mom: Histiocytoma, Ruby. Ruby: Mom, I'm only 1, how am I supposed to know that?).

Anywho, Dr. Marcia said not to worry it will probably get a little bigger, but would go away in a few months and I could keep going to the park. So Mom has been watching it and noticed it WAS getting bigger, but it wasn't bugging me or anything. But today, at the park after I ran for a little bit it started to bleed!!!! And of course, Mom was REALLY worried. So she called Dr. Marcia who said a little bleeding was normal (Ruby's Mom: How could any bleeding be normal???), to put a bandage on it when we go out and it should be ok.

So there is the story... Mom said we might go see Dr. Marcia tomorrow, just in case. Which means we might not be able to go to the BT meetup...that would make me sad. But my Mom knows what's best and is just looking out for me. That's why I love her.

PS - My Mom kept trying to take a picture of my owie, but I think it is too icky to show. I'm a little shy when it comes to things like that.

It's raining...

Wednesday, April 11, 2007

I'm sad today...it's raining :( When it rains, mom makes me wear this stupid yellow rain slicker which I don't like and it also means no dog park - AGAIN! I know I shouldn't be complaining since it's not snowing like where Ike lives, but still. Hopefully it will stop raining before Saturday when we have our monthly BT meetup...I need to see my pup pals!!!!

On the positive side, mom stayed home again today which means there was maximum cuddle time AND my blog was featured on the home page of the Pets with Blogs site which was pretty neat.

Behold the power of guilt...

Tuesday, April 10, 2007

So...we didn't go to the park yesterday, and we're probably not going today either...mom has a cold :( She feels so icky she actually came home early from work which doesn't usually happen. Anywho, I guess mom felt guilty about not taking me to the park and brought me home this tunnel thing...

It's not like the tunnels I play with at the park, it's much smaller and makes a funny noise when I step on it...like crinkled paper or something. I actually think it is a cat toy (do I look like a cat????). But it is something to chew on so that is always fun. I also got a new bully stick which I LOVE!!!!!

With mom home it also means that I don't have to stay in the kitchen all day - yay. I got to bask in the sun on the couch...my favorite spot....ahhhh sunshine....

Welcome to my blog...

Monday, April 09, 2007

It's my birthday... I'm a whole dog today! My mom thought it would be fun if I started my own blog to tell you about my many adventures...and trust me I have lots of adventures.

Today is starting out to be a great first birthday! First, I got an email from Dogster saying I was a featured dog in their birthday stroll - yipee!!! Then came the presents...I got a great new collar (don't I look stylish???) some very fun toys and yummy, yummy cookies. All before 7am!!!! I'm also hoping mom will take me to the park after she gets home from work to play with my friends. I try and get my mom to go everyday, but it doesn't always happen :( When we don't go, I make my mom's life miserable by barking, nipping and just generally driving her crazy - hee, hee, hee. But of course I still love her!

Well, mom is off to work now so I need to get off the computer. Check back often to see what I am up to!

Lots of Licks - Ruby
